Opening an account with Merchant Securities Limited

 

Whether you are an individual or representing a company, trust or similar scheme, you will need to download, print and and return to us the relevant account opening form from the panel on the right of this page. Please take time to carefully read our Terms of Business and policies on Best Execution and Conflicts of Interest, which can be found in the same panel.

 

Our aim is to make the account opening process as straightforward as possible, but you will appreciate that we understand as much about you and the services you require before you transact any business with us.

 

We have included some guidance below to assist you with completing the account opening form and to make sure it is returned to us with any other required information.

If you are an Individual:

We require the following:

  • A completed Account Opening Form for individual clients
  • Please carefully read the following documents:

    • Best Execution Policy
    • Conflicts of Interest Policy

Anti-Money Laundering Verification

In accordance with UK anti-money legislation, we are required to obtain sufficient details to be able to verify your identity. In most cases, UK clients will be verified using our on-line verification service. However, if you are based outside the United Kingdom we will require two forms of verification, one from each of the following categories: 

Identification:

  • Valid passport
  • Valid drivers licence
  • Firearms certificate or shot gun licence
  • National Identity card

Proof of address:

  • Utility bill
  • Current bank statement
  • Credit card statement

 

If you represent a Company:

We require the following:

  • A completed Account Opening Form for Companies
    • Please carefully read the following documents:
      • Terms of Business for Companies
      • Best Execution Policy
      • Conflicts of Interest Policy 

    Additional documents required for company accounts:

  • Names of all directors (or equivalent)
  • Names of all individuals who own or control 25% of its shares or voting rights
  • A signatory list confirming those authorised to give instructions to move funds or assets in our out of the account and a Board Resolution confirming this



If you represent a Pension, Trust or Scheme:

We require the following:

  • A completed Account Opening Form for trusts and schemes
    • Please carefully read the following documents:
      • Terms of Business for Trusts
      • Best Execution Policy
      • Conflicts of interest Policy

Additional documents required:

  • A copy of the Trust Deed
  • A signatory list of those authorised to give instructions for the movement of funds or assets in or out of the account
